「ロンドンで見たフェルメール」の連載中ですが…ちょこっと間奏曲（BGM→♪）
snowdropが英文を担当している美術雑誌、第3号から非売品となりました。
裏表紙の猫がにゃんともカワイイ！
旅する洋画家、須田国太郎（1891-1961）の素描です（1949年）。
さらさらと画家がスケッチしたのは
広島の医師 大林氏の家を訪ねたおり、まったりしていた親子猫でした。

国芳の化け猫は1847年、ルイス・キャロルのチェシャ猫は1865年作です。
挿絵画家ジョン・テニエル（John Tenniel, 1820-1914）は
浮世絵師、歌川国芳（1798-1861）を知っていたでしょうか？

Regarding the cat,
there is a monster cat by Utagawa Kuniyoshi（1798-1861）.
This ukiyo-e print (1847) reminds me of Chesgure Cat
in Alice in Wonderland by Lewus Carroll（1832-1898）.
Did the illustrator John Tenniel (1820-1914）know the above monster?
